Abstract

The Bouchetia Dunal (Solanaceae) genus is represented by only one species in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Bouchetia anomala (Miers) Britton & Rusby. It is endemic to the southern region of Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and the northeastern region of Argentina. It belongs to the subtribe Nierembergiinae Hunz., together with Nierembergia Ruiz & Pav., which it has great affinity and whose distinction is presented as an analytical key. The Bouchetia genus is described, and for the species, a description, illustration, and map of the geographic distribution, as well as, considerations regarding habitat and phenology are presented.
