Jaumea linearifolia, is a succulent perennial herb, with extensive rhizomatous growth and decumbent shoots. It has small yellow heads and fleshy leaves. The species is endemic to the Platense Region and was recorded for the first time for Brazil in two locations of Rio Grande do Sul (Chuí and Patos Lagoon Estuary). It grows in coastal areas and tolerates brackish water, periodic flooding, in sand or muddy soil. Some biometric characteristics of a population of Patos Lagoon Estuary were shown.
