Resumen

Phyla nodiflora var. nodiflora (Verbenaceae) is reported for the first time for Santa Catarina state, in southern Brazil. This is also the first mention of the genus Phyla for the State. The species was found in an area of restinga in the municipality of Laguna, which is part of the Baleia Franca Environmental Protection Area. We provide notes on the morphology, habitat, distribution, and uses of the species, and how to distinguish it from Brazilian congeners, as well as photos of the plant and a map of the new occurrence.
